- 1998 Hurricane Georges September 21st passes nearby with 110 mph winds from the east-southeast causing moderate to heavy damage here, 2 deaths, Flooding along south coast towns, Caused Island wide power outage. Hundreds of roofs ripped off. NHC Report
- 1999 October 20th Hurricane Jose hits direct with 100 mph winds. Many homes damaged unconfirmed reports well over 100 mph winds pressure 29.05 inHg moving northwest at 12 mph. Sustained near 80 mph. NHC Report
