- 1969 August 15th, Hurricane Camille hits here as a cat 2-110 mph from the south-southeast before later becoming a cat5 before hitting the U.S 3 killed here
- 1980 August 7th, Hurricane Allen passes to the south from the east-southeast with 175 mph winds
- 2002, September 20th Hurricane Isidore hits while slowly moving northeast with 105 mph winds, roof damage & trees down.
- 2002 October 1st Hurricane Lili hits with 95 mph winds from the east-southeast, reports of heavy damage by this strengthening Hurricane, the second in 2 weeks. Heavy losses in coffee, banana & rice crops. 38,000 homes damaged 1 killed.
- 2004, September 13th hit by Hurricane Ivan with 160 mph winds moving northwest over the west tip of Cuba with Ivan having a wind field approximately 85 miles out. Heavy damage & surge flooding.13.33 inches of rain in western Cuba, mud slides cut off at least two towns. Measured gusts of 119 mph to 166 mph Models 3 days before hitting | Radar | Satelite photo
- 2018 October 8th Hurricane Michael passes by just west while moving north strengthening with 100 mph winds. Per NHC report "In Cuba, Cabo del San Antonio at the western end of the island reported 10-min mean winds of 84 kt and a gust of 92 kt at 2001 UTC 8 October as the southeast eyewall passed over the station. Based on this, Michael is assessed to have been a category 2 hurricane with 85-kt winds during its close approach to western Cuba". Brightness temp image | NHC report
