- 1890 October 31st, 90 mph from the east just south.
- 1892 October 11th, 95 mph winds from the east-southeast.
- 1893 July 5th, 95 mph from the southeast.
- 1935 October 25th 85 from the northeast.
- 1941 a cat 3-120 mph September 27th, hits from the east
- 1961 July 23rd, Hurricane Anna hits with 80mph (HURDAT) winds just north while moving west weakening, hundreds left homeless. Newspaper article
- 1971 September 9th, Hurricane Edith 155 mph hits area very hard 30 killed in September,.100 fatalities, 7,000 homeless, 140 mph at airport. Recon reports only 5 mile wide eye, almost like a large tornado. Eye of Edith over land for 18 hrs before emerging in the Gulf of Honduras. Recon flew in just before landfall showing 943 mb 161 mph at 5,000 feet. NHC Wallet
- 1978 September 17th Hurricane Greta passes just north of here with 115 mph winds from the east-southeast. NHC Wallet
