  • 1922: N.E. Yucatan hit on Oct. 18th as a cat 1.
  • 1924: West Cuba hit by a cat 3 on Oct. 19th, then Miami as a cat 1 on the 21st.
  • 1926: Cayman Islands brushed by a cat 2, then west Cuba as a cat 3 on Oct. 20th.
  • 1943: Eastern Dominican Republic is brushed by a cat 1 on Oct. 14th.
  • 1944: Cayman Islands hit by a cat 1 on Oct. 15th, then west Cuba as a cat 3 on the 18th, then west central Florida as a cat 1 on Oct. 19th.
  • 1947: Georgia / South Carolina border gets hit by a cat 1 on Oct. 15th.
  • 1950: Hurricane King hits east central Cuba as a cat 3 on Oct. 17th, then hits south Florida as a cat 2 on the 18th & up through the state.
  • 1951: Hurricane Item hits Cayman Islands as a cat 1 on Oct. 14th, then later west Cuba as a tropical storm.
  • 1954: Hurricane Hazel hits North Carolina / South Carolina border with 125mph winds on Oct. 15th while moving rapidly from south to north. Hazel caused widespread damage up the eastern seaboard mostly as an extratropical system.
  • 1964: Hurricane Isbell hits west Cuba as a cat 3 on the 14th, then hits S.W. Florida as a cat 3 on the 15th.
  • 1968: Hurricane Gladys hits west Cuba as a cat 1, then hits Florida Big Bend region as a cat 1 on Oct. 19th.
  • 1988: Hurricane Joan is gaining strength in southern Caribbean. Would later hit Nicaragua.
  • 1989: Hurricane Jerry hits north Texas as a cat 1 on Oct. 16th.
  • 1996: Hurricane Lili hits central Cuba as a cat 2, then hits central Bahamas as a cat 2-3 on the 19th.
  • 1999: Hurricane Irene hits west Cuba on Oct. 14th then hits south Florida Oct. 15th & 16th with 85mph winds causing heavy flooding while moving north. Exits to sea on 16th.
  • 2000, Oct. 19th: Hurricane Michael hits Newfoundland with 100mph winds while moving very quickly to the north. Many power lines & trees blown down.
  • 2005, Oct. 17th: Wilma is born SW of Jamaica & would later hit the Yucatan & South Florida.
  • 2014, Oct. 17th: Hurricane Gonzalo hits Bermuda with 110mph winds, moderate damage.
  • 2016: Hurricane Nicole hits Bermuda on the 13th with 115mph winds causing moderate damage.
