- 1877 September 22nd a category 1 80 mph from the east.
- 1955 September 22nd Hurricane Janet hits with 115 mph winds while moving west, heavy damage,

- 2004 September 8th Hurricane Ivan devastates the island with 130 mph winds while moving west, 39 killed here. Per NHC final report----At least 80 percent of the 100,000 residents were without power; more than 14,000 homes were damaged or destroyed; 80 percent of the nutmeg trees were destroyed; a 17th century prison was also damaged allowing many of the inmates to briefly escape during the height of the storm; Ivan was the worse hurricane to strike the island since Hurricane Janet in 1955.
- 2005 July 14th Hurricane Emily hits with 90 mph winds causing sporadic damage in areas already hit hard by Ivan the year before. NHC report
