- 1966 Hurricane Inez September 27th 120 mph winds from the east, 27 killed 600 injured. NHC Wallet
- 1979 August 29th Hurricane David passes just south from the east-southeast with 145 mph winds. NHC Wallet
- 1989 Hurricane Hugo passes over north part of Island September 17th with 140 mph winds from the east-southeast. 10,000 homes destroyed, leaving 35,000 of the island's 340,000 people homeless. Four people died and 107 were injured, total damage to the island from Hugo amounted to $880 million. Newspaper headline
- 1995 Hurricane Marilyn September 14th just southwest with 80 mph winds, pressure 29.03 inHg, minimal damage from the southeast. Disaster survey report
- 1998 September 20th Hurricane Georges passes just northeast from the east-southeast with 115 mph winds. NHC Report
- 2017 September 19th Hurricane Maria passes just 40 miles to the south while moving northwest with 160 mph winds. No sustained hurricane force winds reported on island Gourbeyre Gros-Morne Dole reported gust to 101 mph but not sustained hurricane force. South tip of island affected by HF northern bands for only a short time. In Guadeloupe, two direct fatalities are attributed to Maria: one person died from a falling tree, and another was swept out to sea. Hurricane-force wind gusts and heavy rain caused a great deal of damage, especially along the southern portions of Basse-Terre Island. An estimated 80,000 homes were without electricity, and almost the entire banana crop was destroyed. An estimated $120 million in damage was reported for Guadeloupe.
